2022 Vine Hill Chardonnay

Notes

Green-tinged pale yellow. Savory soil-influenced aromatics laced with hints of struck flint and wet stone. Multiple layers of citrus blooms, green orchard fruit both skins and flesh, toasted hazelnuts and crushed rock unfold with time in the glass. Tightly wound, sharply delineated yet deeply textured. Finishes as always with impressive length, energy and spine. Packed with aging potential.

The 2022 Chardonnay Vine Hill Vineyard needs a lot of swirling and coaxing to unlock notes of green guava, crunchy apples, and beautifully ripe pears followed by nuances of allspice, acacia honey, and candied ginger with a waft of lime leaves. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers amazing tension and depth with layer upon layer of exotic fruits and spices, finishing with epic length and loads of mineral fireworks. This should age incredibly!

The 2022 Chardonnay Vine Hill Vineyard is a potent, tightly wound wine. Bright, sculpted and tightly wound, the 2022 feels like a Chardonnay that needs time to truly blossom. Its energy and persistence are both compelling. Citrus peel, sage, mint and chamomile open with some coaxing. The Vine Hill is one of the most savory and phenolic Chardonnays in the range.

Very floral, with aromas of honeysuckle, jasmine, oyster shells and some seaweed and fresh thyme, following through to a medium body and very fine phenolics that take you down the length of the wine. Drink or hold.

The 2022 Chardonnay Vine Hill Vineyard is a bright yellow/green-tinged hue and displays pure notes of tangerine, honeycomb, and caramel apple. It’s full-bodied but has a driving freshness of mouthwatering, salty acidity and a clean, toasty finish. It’s bright and needs time to show its best, but it’s going to be a worthy addition to cellars. Drink 2026-2037. I’d like to revisit this in 8-10 years. 13,188 bottles were produced.

The 2022 Chardonnay Vine Hill Vineyard is electric! The nose features pineapple and lemongrass scents accented by almonds, panna cotta and exotic floral perfume. The palate is bursting with layers of peach and green tropical fruit delivered in a satiny texture, and it's balanced by fireworks of fresh acidity that energize the long finish
