2024 Stone Flat Chardonnay
Notes
Green-tinged, pale yellow. A touch greener than gold relative to its Durell sister bottling, even on the nose, with juicy and vibrant seeded orchard fruit, a compelling arch of tension in the mouth and beautifully defined structure. Purity and precision with a buoyant, long and lasting mineral driven finish.

Notes of crunchy pears, white peaches, and lime blossoms slowly emerge from the 2024 Chardonnay Stone Flat Vineyard, opening out to hints of lemon curd, crushed rocks, and powdered ginger. The medium to full-bodied palate is tightly knit, with loads of chalky sparks and a satiny texture, offset by a lively backbone, finishing long and minerally.

Generous, broad and mouth-filling, offering poached pears, melted butter, toasted almonds and a touch of honey. Full-bodied, rich, ripe and almost sweet. So layered and lingering. Drink now or hold.

The sister to Durrell from the same ground but different blocks, the 2024 Chardonnay Stone Flat Vineyard shows a bit more pigment and richness by comparison while still carrying the signature savory edge of the site. Tropical fruit, mango, yellow peach, saline lift, and spice all emerge with a broader, more coating texture. There is more immediate generosity here, yet it still retains enough freshness and structure to stay balanced and focused. Drink 2026-2040.

The 2024 Chardonnay Stone Flat Vineyard is dense, powerful and quite structured. Tangerine oil, pear, baked apple tart and light tropical notes abound. There's a bit more oak influence here, but it works well for the style of the wine. This is a decidedly extroverted Chardonnay.
