The 2024 Chardonnay McCrea Vineyard pops from the glass with ready-to-go notes of crunchy yellow apples and fresh pears, leading to suggestions of orange blossoms, chalk dust, and crushed almonds. The medium to full-bodied palate shimmers with energetic orchard fruit layers, framed by a racy line and satiny texture, finishing long and perfumed.

Moving to the whites, the 2024 Chardonnay McCrea Vineyard Athearn Estate pours a somewhat deeper straw yellow hue and offers real depth and richness without sacrificing tension. Honeycomb, beeswax, almonds, peach pit, salted lemon, minty herbs, and stony earth all emerge from this Sonoma Mountain site, where another 30-year extension on the property was recently secured. The wine is full-bodied on the palate, with spice, savory depth, and terrific persistence.

The 2024 Chardonnay McCrea Vineyard is elegant, gracious and light on its feet. This is one of the most refined wines I can remember tasting from this Sonoma Mountain site. Crushed flowers, citrus, mint, almond and white pepper develop in the glass. The 2024 is remarkably pure and crystalline.
