2024 Laguna Ridge Chardonnay

Notes

Green-tinged pale yellow. Bold and pitched aromatics of yellow citrus rind, toasted hazelnuts and leading tones of both petrol and beeswax. Ripe green and savory-like yellow orchard fruit with foundational, bright natural acids that define its impeccable balance. Of depth, yet tightly wound with a piercing, slightly saline and lasting finish.

Bottled only in magnum, the 2024 Chardonnay Laguna Ridge Vineyard strides confidently out of the glass with bold notes of ripe peaches, Bosc pears, and honey-drizzled toast, opening out to reveal suggestions of chalk dust and grapefruit. The medium to full-bodied palate has a racy line of acidity and wonderfully chalky texture framing the intense orchard fruit layers, finishing long with a gingery kick.

Vivid, lively, agile and fresh, this linear, beautifully balanced wine offers great energy and delicious flavors. Lemons, limes, green apples, minerals and hints of flint light up the palate, while tangy acidity matches the concentration of the fruit. Bottled only in magnum, this stunning wine is worth keeping. Drink or hold.

Produced in magnums, the 2024 Chardonnay Laguna Ridge Vineyard pours a bright golden yellow hue and initially reveals wound-up flinty reduction, white peaches, fresh flowers, peppery lift, and delicate spice. It has the lowest pH in the cellar and tremendous tension on the finish, yet there is still enough lushness wrapping around the structure to absorb the oak seamlessly. Long, focused, and highly ageworthy. Drink 2028-2048.

The 2024 Chardonnay Laguna Ridge is one of the most reticent wines in the lineup. Then again, it is bottled only in magnum, which amplifies that impression in the early going. Apricot, pear, white flowers and slate open gradually. A potent, broad Chardonnay, the Laguna Ridge has a ton to offer, but it needs considerable cellaring.
